Lifeline believes not in activism but advocacy and constructive ground level delivery of the services. Strengthening the community participation is the key to the success of HRP and advocacy is one way to instil good practices in the community.
Initially limited to sensitizing people towards an accident victim's need for help at site, Lifeline Foundation seeks and sources partners in different areas to break myths and misconceptions about laws of the land, evacuation and treatment of accident victims.
Lifeline Aims for a socially responsible and sensitive community, ready to intervene to save lives each time an accident happens.
Standardisation of ambulances, trauma protocol and training modules :
To sensitize ambulances owners, legislators and law enforcement authorities towards the need for minimum standards for ambulance equipment, makes and manpower. None exists in the country now. To impress upon the Medical fraternity the importance of standardizing training modules for trauma care for doctors and paramedics and discourage self-certification of trauma care specialists.
Emergency Medical Services Act :
To build medical opinion for creation, legislation and implementation of regulating the standards of Emergency Medical Care by hospitals.
To press for driver worthiness legislations for ambulances.
To network NGOs (and individuals) working in this sector and organize a common platform to interact with other stakeholders involved in rescue and trauma care.
Universal access emergency number :
India is unfortunate not to have a single emergency helpline number accessible both within cities and in the countryside. To advocate for a universal access emergency number, which can be assessed by a child in fourth grade, anywhere in India in any medical emergency has been an important issue for Lifeline Foundation. The attempt is to cure prevalent ills that allow display of multiple emergency numbers and also the inaccessibility of three digit (100, 101, 102) and four digit numbers from mobile phones.
